New Addition Discover Tasmania brochure takes to the road
09 September 2008
Michelle O’Byrne, the Acting Minister for Tourism, recently declared that 180,000 Tourism Tasmania’s Discover Tasmania brochures will be sent out to around 4000 travel agents across Australia and New Zealand over the next couple of weeks.
Three hundred and seven Tasmanian tourism operators feature in the latest edition of the Discover Tasmania booklet.
Miss O’Byrne said, “The new format is a merger between the Tasmania Holiday Planner, and Tasmania’s Temptations Holidays’ Holiday Book”.
“It is the key publication used by retail travel agents in Australia and New Zealand when selling Tasmanian holidays,”
Over the next four weeks, the Discover Tasmania brochure will be introduced to travel agents in five Australian states, as a trade show takes to the road to develop sellers existing product knowledge, and makes them aware of the new additions to the Tasmanian tourism market.
“These road shows are completely ‘Tasmania-centric’ and also feature fine Tasmanian wine and cheese to further tempt travel agents and therefore, their customers,” Ms O’Byrne commented.
The Discover Tasmania brochure is now divided into five new marketing segments.
“The zones were developed to help showcase the specific areas, attractions, and products that make up the unique Tasmanian experience.”
The latest 2008 brochure sees an increase in visitor attractions provided by both Flinders and King Islands.
“Last year, just one Flinders Island operator took out advertising in the new Discover Tasmania publication. I’m pleased to say that this year nine operators from the Island are included,” said Ms O’Byrne.
Travel agents across Australia selling holidays to Tasmania, have the benefit of support and information provided by Tourism Tasmania’s Business Development Advisers.
“I congratulate Tourism Tasmania staff for producing a book that truly makes it easier for travel agents to sell Tasmania as an outstanding holiday destination,” Ms O’Byrne said.
