Why do I require a visa to enter Australia?
If you are a citizen of any of the eligible countries an ETA visa replaces the need to apply for either a stamp or paper visa. You do not need, nor do you receive a paper visa.

How do I apply for an online visa?
If you are from any of the 33 eligible countries and are in possession of both a current passport and accepted Credit/Debit card you can apply here.

How long does it take before I get my visa?
Instant Travel Visa process your Australian Travel Visa application almost immediately and, providing the information you put in your application is correct, your visa will usually be approved within minutes. However sometimes the Australian Authorities may need to do further checks which can result in a delay of up to 24 hours in your visa being approved. Delays can be caused by you having criminal convictions or your application being referred to the Australian High Commission in which case it can take up to a further 5 working days. It is therefore very important that you apply for an Australian Visa at least 5 days before your departure and ensure that your visa has been granted before confirming any flight plans.

My Visa has been referred. What do I do?
If your application has been referred you may be required to give additional personal details to the Department of Immigration. Should this be the case Instant Travel Visa will let you know.

However as we only process Australian Travel Visas we will not, under any circumstances, offer advice on referrals or refusals.The service fee which you pay is for the processing of the ETA visa only and does not include any other services.

Your request for an ETA is processed within 24 hours and in the event that the request processed on our website establishes that you have an existing Australian Visa that is current, the fee you have paid is non-refundable. In such circumstances, we will confirm to you of your current ETA status and the charge is applied to recover the cost of administration.

If we notify you of a referral requiring additional information, you might be required to complete Form 48R, a copy of which we will send to you. You will then be required to fax the completed form directly to the High Commission along with a copy of your passport. You will be notified by either Instant Travel Visa, or by the Australian High Commission whether or not you have been granted a travel visa to enter Australia.

We will not, under any circumstances, be held responsible for any visa being refused as all decisions to grant or refuse visas are made by the Australian Government.

How long can I visit Australia for?
A short term visitor Visa to Australia is valid for up to 12 months from its date of issue but 3 months is the maximum stay allowed at any one time. However you can leave Australia and re-enter for up to a further 3 months up to the expiry date of the visa. If your visa is due to expire before your scheduled flight departure from Australia you will need to apply for a Bridging Visa to prevent your stay becoming against Australian Law. You cannot apply on-line for this whilst in Australia so you will need to contact the Department of Immigration on their 24 hour helpline at 131881. This is a local call cost number from anywhere in Australia. Note: If you overstay your visa in Australia by more than 28 days you will be excluded from applying for a visa to enter Australia for a period of 3 years. You may also be detained by the authorities.

Can I work whilst in Australia?
No, an ETA Visa does not allow anyone to work, paid or unpaid, whilst visiting Australia. If it is your intention to work you need to contact the Australian Department of Immigration.

Can I study whilst in Australia.
Yes, you are allowed to study but only for a maximum of 3 months in any one visit. You must also pass a chest x-ray examination before commencing any studies.

Can I attend business meetings or conventions whilst in Australia?
Yes, but your stay must be for no longer than 3 months in any one stay.

How long does my ETA Visa last for?
Your visa is valid for either 12 months or expiry date of your passport whichever comes soonest.

How do I get my passport stamped?
With an ETA Visa you do not get a stamp as you don't need one. This is because when you make your application your passport number is linked electronically to your visa.

Do children require an ETA Visa?
Children, like adults, require a visa to enter Australia as age does not matter. Therefore, if they are from an eligible country, you can apply for them seperately if they have their own passport. If a child is on your passport, you apply using all of the child's details shown on the passport.

I need to cancel my ETA Visa.
It is not necessary to cancel your visa as once you have paid your fees the process is taking place and is not refundable.

Can I correct any errors?
If you discover that you have made errors in your application you will need to re-apply online. ETA visas are processed almost immediately and administration costs will have been incurred by INSTANT TRAVEL VISA whether the information supplied is correct or not. A further £9.99 is therefore payable. It is vitally important that you e-mail us to inform us should you have previously made an Australian Visa Application with incorrect information.

My passport was lost/stolen since I applied for my visa and i have now been issued with a replacement. Is this OK?
No! Since your Australian Visa is electronically connected to your passport number you will need to re-apply as your new passport will have a different number to your old passport and your visa cannot be transferred.

Are ETA visas accepted by all airlines?
ETA's are accepted by many but not all airlines flying to Australia. Please see the enclosed list

Is £9.99 all we pay for an ETA visa?
Unless you are applying for a Long Validity Business Visa (Subclass 956), the £9.99 fee is for the manual checking and electronic processing of your visa and is all you need to pay unless your application is either postal or by fax in which case the service charge is £14.99 per applicant. It is our promise to keep you informed of your visa status and whether or not it has been referred and what to do next if it has. Our website also has a secure log-in area for you to check your visa status. We are a British company and charge only in GB pounds.
